Well, I don't know about you, but we're in the thick of our Choral Christmas preparations.
After our first festive performance last weekend, we are all doing individual practice before the final rehearsal this Sunday for our traditional and popular Guildhall Christmas Concerts.
This year our Guildhall offering is 'WELCOME YULE', a veritable feast of festive cheer, with mulled wine of course. As usual, tickets are selling fast!
It's hard to believe that we've been creating our own version of Christmas magic at Leicester Guildhall for over 25 years now. This very wonderful building has a special place in our hearts.
The historic Guildhall of Leicester is such a beautifully atmospheric setting for a Christmas celebration. The building was begun in the late 1390's as the headquarters of the Corpus Christi Guild, eventually it became the Town hall of the Corporation of Leiceste,r and served as the town's Police Station. It is even said that Shakespeare staged performances there too.
When you see that roaring fire, and settle down ito your seat to enjoy the live performance, you can really begin to get a feel for how the building might have felt, back in mediaeval times.
As the oldest civic building in the city, it has many tales to tell - ghost stories, history and indeed personal stories.
Who would have through that one of these such stories is also part of the history of Kingfisher Chorale itself?
Look out for our next post with more on our special connection with this lovely building.
Meanwhile we look forward to seeing you, your friends and families, at our forthcoming Guildhall Kingfisher Concerts, to start your own Guildhall Story.
With our warmest wishes,
